  • Learner Support

    Support

    Free Transport

    If you are aged 16 to 19 and studying a full or part-time course you may be eligible to apply for a Student Maintenance Allowance. As part of the SMA bursary you will also be eligible for free transport to and from the College.

    Free Meals

    Students aged 16 to 18 who received free meals at school will be able to apply for a meal deal voucher to use on campus. If you are aged 19 to 25 and are subject to a Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA) or Education Health and Care Plan (EHC Plan) and ESF students aged 16 to 18 are also entitled to a free meal depending on whether you meet the proposed criteria.

    Additional Support

    The College has a specialist team of support workers available to provide dedicated support to students who require it. It is essential that students who require additional support should notify the College of any learning difficulty or disability before starting any course. Support is also available for any student who requires assistance with English, maths or language skills.

    Counselling

    The Hull College Group Counselling Service provides free, confidential and professional counselling as part of the College’s commitment to the mental wellbeing of students. Anyone can refer themselves, or be referred by a member of staff and can attend counselling around any issue that may be affecting them, whether it is personal or related to the College. Information can be found via the Hull College website or Moodle.

    Safeguarding

    The Hull College Group recognises its legal duties and responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of everyone who attends the College. The College works with the local Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Boards and other agencies ensuring staff are well trained to support anyone who may have concerns about their safety or concerns regarding abuse or neglect. We also have dedicated staff to support you with any welfare or guidance concerns you may have.

    How to apply?

    The application process begins in October and continues throughout the year. Whilst this will vary depending on the programme you are interested in, you will generally follow this path:

    • Attend one of our Open Events
    • Complete an application
    • Join us for a one-to-one meeting and assessment
    • Attend one of our Applicant Days
    • Receive confirmation of a place
    • Studies begin the following September

    Our friendly admissions team are here to guide you from application right the way through to enrolment. We strongly advise a visit to one of our open events so you get the chance to talk to tutors and see for yourself how Hull College can support you on your journey to your dream job.
