  • What Makes Us Different

Seven reasons why you should study at Bishop Burton:
    • Our campus is second to none! You have multi-million pound facilities set in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside.
    • We’re a stone’s throw away from two of the most vibrant cities in the north. Hull, the 2017 City of Culture, is just 15 minutes down the road while the historic city of York is just 45 minutes away.
    • You’ll make friends from all over the country. Our courses are considered some of the best around so we draw in excellent talent from across the UK.
    • A healthy body equals a healthy mind. If you’re into sport, at whatever level, there’s something here for you. We have 40 sports teams so there will definitely be something to get involved with.
    • We have a wide range of qualifications, with clear paths for progression onto the next step, so we’ll help you all the way to the career of your dreams.
    • Employability is the key at Bishop Burton College. We work closely with regional and national employers to secure the best work placements, apprenticeships and job opportunities during and after you achieve your qualification.
    • It’s a fun place to be. But don’t believe us, hear from the thousands of students who have studied here. If you’re looking for a place to balance your academic development with your personal growth, we’re definitely a unique offering.
  • Learner Support

Bishop Burton College has often been praised for the level and quality of support that it gives to all of its students.

Specialist support is available for people with diagnosed additional needs, through to less formal support to help students on every level of course with everything from note taking to working out percentages!

    We can help you with:

    • Study skills
    • Assignment writing
    • Maths support
    • Spelling, punctuation, grammar

If you know you have a learning or physical disabiliy, or think you may have, don't let that stop you doing the course you want to do. Our staff are very experienced with supporting students who have a variety of needs. During your interview we can discuss your specific requirements.

  • Activities

Every year students can get involved in over 350 events, including the normal weekly social events such as quizzes, film nights, discos, trips out to the cinema, beach, laser quest and ice skating rink. You’ll also be welcome to some of the bigger events of the year – such as the Christmas, Valentine's and Summer Balls.

Special food themes such as Mexican, Indian and Italian are prepared in Ostlers café and, for the more adventurous, whole 'weekend away' activities take place each term.

As a College with a strong sporting tradition, we arrange supporters' buses to away fixtures to cheer on our teams. The huge success of our sports teams means frequent aftermatch celebrations too!

We aim to encourage a healthy and balanced lifestyle amongst our student population through involvement in sporting and fitness activity, as well as providing a platform for those who have the ability and desire to be successful at the highest level possible.

The new Centre for Sports and Fitness offers a state-of-the art fitness suite, sports shop, a dance studio and a sports hall with provision for four badminton courts.

Talented athletes can access first-class coaching and sports development through our academy programmes, while taking advantage of the College’s expanding portfolio of sports courses. We currently offer academy programmes in rugby, football, netball, equine and pentathlon.
