Upon the cessation of the statutory levy in the late 1980’s, the GTA became a registered charity in 1990.

We operate in partnership with Hull Training and deliver from our Automotive Academy at Stoneferry. We provide apprenticeships in most areas of the motor engineering sector, and we are an approved assessment centre registered by the Institute of the Motor Industry Awards Limited (IMIAL). We currently have 26 member companies with voting rights who pay an annual subscription and 116 associate member companies allied to the Association in the Hull and East Riding area of Yorkshire who utilise the GTA's experience for the selection, training and assessment of apprentices. The GTA offers training in motor vehicle engineering for light and heavy vehicles. Based on the assessment of their initial abilities, new learners have the chance to start on either a foundation apprenticeship, apprenticeship or an advanced apprenticeship. Providing you have the skills and capabilities, learners will have the chance to progress to an advanced apprenticeship.
