Overview

The aim of this qualification framework is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of Business and Administration. It provides an insight into more advanced principles and processes of Business and Administration and will aid career development.

This QCF competence-based qualification is designed for those people who:

  • Are involved in Business and Administration as their primary work activity
  • Are seeking a career in Business and Administration and may have existing related experience or have previously achieved a lower level or sector related qualifications
  • Wish to gain recognition of their skills and experience in Business and Administration

Each candidate will be assigned a suitably qualified assessor who will visit them on a regular basis at work to ensure constant progress. Each candidate is allocated 18 months in which to complete this programme, however this will depend on the individual.

The qualification framework is comprised of three elements:

BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business and Administration (QCF)

A combined qualification, which incorporates competence and knowledge

Assessed through portfolio evidence in the workplace

A Combined (Competence and Knowledge) qualification is a work-based qualification that combines competence and technical knowledge to give learners the practical competencies, technical skills and sector-related knowledge they need to be able to carry out a job effectively.

Functional Skills

English Level 2

Maths Level 2

Information and Communication Technology Level 2

Day release may be required for training - Assessed through external test

How will it be delivered?

Your assessor will regularly meet with you at work to set you targeted work to do through an 'action plan'. They will also give you target dates by which to complete set work and this will enable them to monitor your progress and identify any problems you may be experiencing.

You will also be observed in your workplace carrying out your day to day duties and you will be asked questions to clarify your competence on specific tasks. Your progress will be regularly reviewed and your employer notified if issues and problems occur to enable all parties to assist you in achieving your award.

Entry requirements

Interviews are guaranteed to all applicants and you will be asked to complete a Chamber Training Application Form and to sit a Basic Skills Agency Assessment. This assessment is mandatory to enable us to assess your literacy and numeracy abilities and to be able to offer you the best option to suit your needs.

Once you have completed your Apprenticeship:

  • You may be offered a permanent position with your employer
  • You may be offered a promotion
  • You may want to progress onto; team leading, supervisor, management qualifications if your role meets the qualification criteria
  • You can progress onto higher education/degree level
