About us

Joint Sixth Form - Beverley High School and Beverley Grammar School

Beverley Joint Sixth Form delivers a largely academic curriculum that is based around the study of 3 A Level subjects over two years. As a result of this curriculum and of the teaching, guidance and support provided during their time at 6th form students at Beverley J6 consistently achieve results well above the national average and the vast majority move onto take up places at University, with a high number securing places at Russell Group Universities.

Student support

We are very proud of the excellent care and guidance system in place at Beverley Joint 6th which supports students throughout their studies.

A dedicated Pastoral Manager on each school site provides support and guidance to all students. Students belong to mixed forms and have a dedicated tutor period each week. Students also have individual mentoring guidance meetings with their tutor.  As a result of this support, our student retention rate remains one of the highest in the area.

What makes us different?

Top performing Sixth Form in the East Riding of Yorkshire

In August 2019 Beverley Joint 6th students celebrated an outstanding set of A level results; all students in Year 13 were sitting the new style A level, with some subjects being the first time through and our results were impressive.

82% of grades were at A*, A, B or C

15 students achieved all A/A* grades

40 students achieved all A*/A/B grades

Average grade for all entries was B-

We are also thrilled that so many of our students went on to higher education destinations of their choice. 75% have gone into university with the remaining students securing places on apprenticeships or taking gap years before applying to university for a 2020 start. 45 % of students have gone to Russell Group universities. This year, reflecting trends in previous years, students have taken up places to study Medicine, attend Conservatoires and at Cambridge.
