Hull College are still processing applications and everyone will receive a conditional offer. We will keep you updated regarding your interview and how this process will work so do keep an eye out for updates.

Student support

Support

Free Transport

If you are aged 16 to 19 and studying a full or part-time course you may be eligible to apply for a Student Maintenance Allowance. As part of the SMA bursary you will also be eligible for free transport to and from the College.

Free Meals

Students aged 16 to 18 who received free meals at school will be able to apply for a meal deal voucher to use on campus. If you are aged 19 to 25 and are subject to a Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA) or Education Health and Care Plan (EHC Plan) and ESF students aged 16 to 18 are also entitled to a free meal depending on whether you meet the proposed criteria.

Additional Support

The College has a specialist team of support workers available to provide dedicated support to students who require it. It is essential that students who require additional support should notify the College of any learning difficulty or disability before starting any course. Support is also available for any student who requires assistance with English, maths or language skills.

Counselling

The Hull College Group Counselling Service provides free, confidential and professional counselling as part of the College’s commitment to the mental wellbeing of students. Anyone can refer themselves, or be referred by a member of staff and can attend counselling around any issue that may be affecting them, whether it is personal or related to the College. Information can be found via the Hull College website or Moodle.

Safeguarding

The Hull College Group recognises its legal duties and responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of everyone who attends the College. The College works with the local Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Boards and other agencies ensuring staff are well trained to support anyone who may have concerns about their safety or concerns regarding abuse or neglect. We also have dedicated staff to support you with any welfare or guidance concerns you may have.

Aleah Hartley - Level 3 Advanced Theatrical Special Effects and Media Make-up Artistry 

Aleah has used her skills in imaginative ways by starting her own business with friend Kaileigh Ellison to gain hands-on experience across a range of make-up disciplines. 

Recently, Aleah has been commissioned to lead a special effects make-up workshop for theatre companies in Hull, Beverley and York, which will involve a 90-minute session focusing on special effects then a 90-minute session on Halloween make-up.

When asked why she chose Hull College, Aleah said “They had the best Level 3 course in the area, along with the best kit and facilities.”

Connor Stow & Steven Lodge - Catering 

Former catering students, Connor and Steven, were recently contestants on this seasons Channel 4 'Great British Bake Off the Professionals'. Connor is the youngest contestant to feature in the competition series and was named Best Junior Pastry Chef in the UK for 2019. 

Janis Skodins - 3D Design Student 

Hull City Council issued a brief to create a piece of art celebrating Hull music legend Mick Ronson, with Janis being selected as the lucky winner. After producing a design and prototype model based on Mick's personality, it has now been recreated as an 8ft steel statue.
